When Azān I hear…………………………….

Those that flow, are heart’s toll, those that don’t, nurture the soul
Ain’t a Muslim though, with one such kept drop, of a soulful tear
From a mosque afar, as I wish on a star, for the Lord’s kind dole
My heart reads out, a silent prayer,
When Azān I hear, when Azān I hear ……………………………..

From a heart weighed down, by the endless toils, of a cold world
Trapped in tangles, many pigeons set free, into the blissful air
Ain’t this my faith? The echo so pure, locked up soul, now unfurled
It blesses me, splendidly, so I do revere,
When Azān I hear, when Azān I hear ……………………………..

From muezzin’s pure soul, arises this call, not just for some, but for all
Like a cloud when it rains, quenches all souls, though far or near
It stirs love in the depths of hearts, for the Lord, every faith it does enthrall
Drenched to the core, in this rain austere,
When Azān I hear, when Azān I hear……………………………..

Who engraved this masterpiece enduringly, on the face of time?
Profound its sound, echoes unbound, kindles ethos in Lord’s care
A chime refined, pleas to mankind, a missive of accord sublime
It nurtures love, diminishes fear,
When Azān I hear, when Azān I hear……………………………..

It ain’t the longest of song, but the purest one of life
Rhymes well, with human quest, well beyond the frontier
Of supreme truth, that incarnates Lord amidst faiths rife
I behold that truth, loud and clear,
When Azān I hear, when Azān I hear ……………………………..

Beside the church and temple bells, so distinct in what it tells
His vision deciphered bare, how motley faiths cohabit and share
They outlast states and men, lead civilizations past trying spells
Becomes my soul, a patch, for His glory to rear,
When Azān I hear, when Azān I hear……………………………..
