That fond recall of our last fall
Entangled in that estrangement
That dilemma still whispers from my wall-
“Your wedlock is a sacrament”!
I chose gladly in the mid-forties
To be a wife ever taught to be
To cook and clean so the master sees
His puny wife is very worthy!
He was a learned polished man
Who gave me a dream my soul’s sacred bread
I played to the providence of His plan
Who tore my life from shred to shred!
Once a dilemma now an enigma
Weighs down on me like a breaking chain
I chose my feminine faith’s stigma
MY LOVE IS TETHERED TO YOUR PAIN!
