Shalom Aleichem, Wa Alaikum Salaam

vikas chandra

Why wait, until, armistice day
To rejoice, the fests, of camaraderie
Two clans’, discrete verses, when say –
“May peace, be the faith, between you, and me!”

Shalom, Salaam, and the, spirit therein
Is stronger than, history’s malice
Yet a wish, of peace, is a, sublime sin
When confined, to ethnic prejudice!

These fests, of blood, for existence
Won’t end, until that, last drop spills
To end, this age, of insolence
Give peace too, a chance, to have her fills!

The unbroken soul, of a, splintered state
Resonates with qualm, a silent psalm –
“May peace vanquish, harangue of hate
Shalom Aleichem, Wa Alaikum Salaam!”
