As My Lassie, Comes Of Age

Who twirled, in frock, on my heart
Now tramples, on my, sweet despair
An enigma; two worlds, apart
Whose rosary, tangled, in whose prayer!

How estranged you, to that girl, of yore
And me, to that woman, you are
Who once, smelt of, petrichor
Now bleeds, each month, a new avatar!

Once suckled, who, her father’s dreams
Now a buxom, blushed, and blessed by shame
How the modesty, of a woman, redeems
My girl, from her, childhood’s ‘game’!

“A daughter, is a mother reborn!”, but was I wrong?
Now she’s, beyond, her father’s ‘cage’
Who, longs to love, and loves to long
As My Lassie, Comes Of Age!
