Our Love Smells Like The Autumn Mist

How far-flung seems, that fond recall
Like a longing lived, beyond its age
Layer-by-layer, like the haze of fall
We gage it now, with a spent outrage!

Lo and behold! When amidst death’s fest
Life rustles past, fall’s fallen grace
Our hearts kindle, renaissance’s quest
Two unquenched souls, in divine embrace!

Was it ever meant, to consummate?
Sweet misery of, a half-done verse
Why martyr, be love, like fall’s fate –
Kissed to death, by life’s immortal curse!

The menses, of sweet September
Dissolved in shades, of sin’s heist
Like whiffs of life, on death’s platter
Our Love Smells Like The Autumn Mist
