Why Those Mothers Died Away …!

Why providence, has a price to pay
Which time demands, from poignant past
Those black and white smiles, seem passé
Which love blessed once, but, not to last!

Were they spent souls, who stirred households
When smoldering wood, kindled lullabies
How shame gloried, in womanhood’s folds
Where gone are, those days, of apple pies!

A hand I held, thru a mile, to the school
A kiss that smelt of, last night’s tears
To bear nuptials, was the ‘golden rule’
All pride, no honor, for the vain martyrs!

In lost recalls, and blurred insights
In longings of love, left miles away
Who lived firm faith, but not sham rites
Why Those Mothers Died Away …!
