Remains Of The Day

With that only vow, we rise to sun
Which shoves us, to our daily grub
Of half-lost battles, and lives undone
Plays one more day, on our hearts’ hubbub

We write and wipe, and write again…
The rites of life, with splintered hands
Thru clogged alleys, and a mob profane
We play along, our one-man bands

To live ain’t sin, to sin but life
We leave behind, a trail of lies
Life’s all about, that daily strife
Whose creed, we love to idolise

Time left us, or we left time behind
Like molted skin, of a yarn astray
In vain recalls, linger enshrined
Life’s sublime tolls, remains of the day
